Stiff knee gaurds...any suggestions?
on: September 10, 2015, 02:42:19 PM
Has anyone found softer more flexible kneepads? I have a pair of leather trousers and the knee pads don't flex enough or are to small... After riding for 40min's I am in agony... Any good replacements?
Tomorrow is promised to no one...

Look for D3O armour. It's softer than traditional stuff and then hardens on impact (ooer missus).

Knee pads that fit standard armour pockets should be available for around £20 - £25. You should be able to find them on flea bay, amazon or any good bike gear website like Get Geared/Sports Bike Shop etc etc etc

That's not good.

I had a pair of old leather pants years ago and I to found them uncomfortable, but it wasn't the armor as such, just that it was in the wrong place.  Can you move your armor up or down your leg ?

I've had exact same issue, unfortunately my "fix" came courtesy of Hein Gericke. They used to do their own CE armour which was like a dimpled rubber stuff called Hiprotec. I've found it a lot more comfortable than that normal hard stuff.

That stuff Denton lad recommend looks very good though.

The Wife has Hiprotec in the hips and we both use D30 in the knees of our Rukka leggings with great effect. I have to agree that position is important as is not having your leggings pulling tight against your knees. It may be worth pulling your leggings up your boots a couple of inch’s when you’re on the bike to help reduce pressure.
