Fitting a new exhaust - info for Muppets like me!

I fitted a new pipe to my CT last night and spent considerable time turning it pushing it looking at it and generally being confused before I realised that there is a collar to come off, as well as the old pipe, before you put the new one on.
I suspect most of you guys know that anyway but this post is for any other after-market rookies out there who are wondering why the dealer has given them the wrong product!!! Images of the new look attached.

Hey Bavbas, I didn't know that was possible!

I might look into it but I wouldn't consider making that kind of change unless it was absolutely 100% foolproof! Having said that, I really think this bike is well mapped anyway. I'm not convinced that I need it to be any quicker to be honest.
