Buy or not to buy
« on: February 26, 2015, 11:04:27 PM »
So close to buy my dream bike, a 2015 Honda  VFR 1200x DTC Crosstourer in  "special silver" color. What could be a main topic I have to take care of? :435:

Me and wife like to make 200-300 Km long weekend trips and I love to commute to Office. Also planning to make a 15 day long ride across europe?

Looking forward to get your experience, and commends to clear my decition to get that beauty.

Do not buy the Honda crashbars. You can go for Givi, it works. You can also get their bash plate if you want. The genuine panniers+top box cost an arm and a leg, look for alternatives (Givi, Hepco Becker, SW Motech etc). All Honda accessories cost a lot more than they should here (I live in Istanbul as well). The decision is up to you though, with the exception of the crashbar, they are mostly high quality.

Enjoy, the new colors look great.

I reckon a Hugger, Rad guard along with decent crash bars. I use R&G as they allow you to remove the panels without any problems.
Bearing in mind a new Radiator is £400 +. The Hugger will keep the shock clean. I bought all of them from R&G btw although do inspect the crashbars for defects if you buy them. They have had some quality problems with the paint finish recently.

Just my view of course  :152:

Thank you for your kind interest and all information.
I am a "Hepco Becker" fan and have used all crash bars, top box, and side panniers from "Hepco Becker".I will keep my old cases as they are still in perfect condition.

To be honest I do not like the Original Honda crashbar finish, but the shape of how it surrounds the side and front looks good, but I do still concern about the asymmetric DTC part, it looks like to be more ahead the bars. Is this the same on "Hepco Becker" and "Givi"?

Hugger, Rad guard should be a nice and wise add on Thanks

On the way to my dealer. He will handle me my bike today. But still some add on like the hugger,  radiator guard and tank pad are missing. Have to wait one more week. But what were I can survive without these fie a week. :)
