Scotland trip 2015
« on: October 11, 2014, 09:57:04 AM »
Since there are a lot of UK residents here, I dare post my question here...

I would like to make a week-long trip to Scotland next spring/summer (june 2015).

I would take the ferry to Hull.

Do you guys have some interesting places to visit?

Some places I want to visit are: Adrians Wall, Edinburgh, Cairngorms National Park, and Loch Ness

So if you have some nice routes with plenty of turns, and interesting places to visit... Shoot!  (I would like to visit some castles)

I am sure we can sort you out with routes for your journey, I would say if you are coming from Hull then the East coast would be a good run to start, then head over towards Cairngorm, Loch Ness, and then down the west coast

Have you been over before or are there specific places that you have in mind other than above that we can plan in to your route?

I've been over in Scotland, but that was for a swimming competition.  So other than the inside of a pool and my hotelroom, I haven't seen anything...

Other than the four mentioned places, I prefer the "not-so-touristic-but-nice-to-visit-places"...  So I'm open to suggestions :028:

Edit : no offroad, since my GF is following with a CBR600

Oh youre in for a real treat mate. As Jonny Rep says Glencoe is very special.
If you went up through Glen Coe to Fort William you could follow head along Loch Ness towards inverness and up to John o Groats (not much there but its a tick in the box) on the East coast. Then ride along the top of scotland and down the West Coast onto Ullapool and Skye. This is really difficult, the probem is from my experience, soon as youre north of Glasgow, its all bloody brilliant!

When we went to the top we stayed here:

Few years ago but it was lovely.
Done a little map of one of the routes we did

The A87 from Loch Ness to Loch Alsh is a cracker too!

Let me know nearer the time and I'm sure we could meet up and I'll take you a couple of nice roads. Cairngorms is not on the google map above, but it's not far from it and we can easy add it in. I'm East Coast, but love going over the West Coast....and getting there is not bad as well:)
What do you mean it's raining....get ootside and ride the thing.
