Who is interested in a Belgium/Germany outing
on: April 21, 2013, 03:25:19 PM
Being as I cannot make the CT meet that is organised for 19th May near the Belgium/Germany broder I was wondering if any other bods in South East England (or anywhere else if you like) fancied a little trip over to the region, sort of mid July time.

Maybe just a 3 day jaunt so that it can almost be considered a weekend trip for those that have to justify it.

No doubt the local CT boys will come out to play over there and I hope they can point us to some decent accomodation as well.

So any interested parties?

Nobody?

I know there are at least three more CT owners within 45 mins of the channel tunnel, come on peeps they'll think we are lightweights.

Mid July doesn't work for me, I am afraid,  and anyway I hate the tunnel.   After the ride down from Derbyshire, I need a break and a proper breakfast and that means a ferry!

If I was living that close to the tunnel, I'd be going over all the time, dead cheap for bike day trips !
Love using the tunnel for my family holidays.

You can get a 'proper' breakfast at the tunnel terminal.

I am following the tour in July on the CT so no can do but maybe August?
Over to Eiffel and Nurburgring in a couple of weeks for a 5 day tour.
Very envious of Doc he sits above some of the best biking roads, there is a triangle of biking Nirvana between Bitburg Stadtkyll and Mayen  using the 410 257 258 silky smooth great visibility and stunning scenery lucky guy.
I am with you Ian you can't beat a brekkie on the boat on the way out but I  like taking the tunnel on the return as I am home within the hour.

Nice. Are you following the whole tour or just the mountains?

The only thing a camper van is good for in my opinion, following the TDF. I don't think I've got the stamina to follow by bike but good for avoiding the usual mountain stage traffic snarl ups I'll bet.

Enjoy.

Would have been up for this, but already have two Euro Trips booked. One in June and one in August / September, so will have to miss out on this one unfortunately.
