Silver CTs are the slowest and it's official
on: April 01, 2013, 08:09:26 AM
Read an interesting article last night. Scientists in the USA have found that bikes and cars that are poly-chromatic (metallic coloured, ie. silver, gold etc) are slower and less fuel efficient than identical machinery that is standard coloured ie red, white, black. Tests have shown that this is due to the fact that the metallic flakes in the paint cause more drag thus slowing the bike.

Eat your heart out silver CT owners  :008:  :150:

It is true in fact Black is officially recognised as the fasted colour which is why the Land speed recorder holder Thrust 2 is Black.
Honda also recognised this when it wanted to build the fasted production motorcycle and  called it the BLACK bird!!,
Named after the fasted plane at the time again BLACK in colour

OK so maybe by 0.0000000000000000001 mph.  If clean and sparkling. But with mud and dust etc, which Black holds onto ?????
There you go:    SILVER     :152: :152: :152: :152: :152: :152: :152: :152:
 :305:     Sean.
Keep it on the Black Stuff or Dirt - BUT - Rubber Side Down.  Else it hurts!

But if black shows the dirt more then it is more likely to be cleaned off sooner whereas the silver will hide the dirt in those big heavy metallic flakes and you will be carrying more weight thus slowing you down even more  :745:
