Brake disc!
on: March 02, 2013, 03:32:31 PM
Whilst Running the bike in gear i applied the rear brake. The disc seems quite warped. The caliper was moving side to side. Anybody know how much warp is within tolerance?

Manno the caliper should not move although the pads can move on a slide.

Please make sure the brkae caliper is secure on the bike before you ride it again.

There might be a slight movement as I am pretty sure the bike has floating discs, if there is a warp in the disc you should feel it when braking, if you are not sure get your dealer to put it on the brake tester which will show up any problem.

I think you may find this is related to "brake binding" post in the general section.
I can feel slight pulsing through the lever, is this the symptom? Does the brake squeal when moving the bike around the garage

Without the brake applied the pad sliders cope well. When the brake is applied the caliper moves slightly. It is all nice and tight and is flexing on it's bolted mounts. I can't feel anything through the lever. If one of the front discs was warped like the back I'm pretty sure I would.

0.3 mm! Mines more like 3.0 mm. Dealer warranty job.  :151:

when i first got my bike had it running in gear on center stand did also notice rear caliper moving around like a warped disc i removed wheel and disc ect too check everything was tight all ok . cant feel it through rear brake pedal so havent worried about it even from braking from 100kms per hr just using the rear brake. rear caliper is a fully floating caliper with slides too cope with a bit of movement i suppose. i have done over 5000kms now and all seems ok
