They are unsealed cartridges similar to the original equipment. Unsealed means they don't have their own permanent oil supply but use the oil in the fork. They are not emulators. Emulators like RaceTech's gold valves are valves that work with conventional damping rod forks to act more like cartridge forks by supplying variable damping and adjust-ability.
