Not Happy with Standard Mirrors
on: January 21, 2013, 03:04:45 PM
Coming from my Africa and Varadero, which both have large round convex mirrors, I find the CT mirrors too limited in their view. They do have a wide field of view but not a tall one that only a circular convex mirror gives.

I thought about ordering some Varadero mirrors for my CT, but even though they have 12mm shaft dia they are only 8mm thread whereas he CT is 10 I believe.

Anyone else not happy with the stock mirrors? What alternatives are there?

I'm with you mika, st1100, 650 Burgman and 1200 gs my last 3 bikes, the first 2 had excellent mirrors. The CT has mirrors as good as them and better than the GS in my opinion.

Exactly, I`m very pleased with the Xtourer mirrors. On my 1200GS they sucked big time, on my 1150GS I swapped them for K1200RS mirrors for more and steady view.  Coming from ST1100 and STX1300 you always have to compromise.

Best view behind i've had on any bike but if you swop them i will buy at least your RH one as i snapped mine around the ball joint and have it held together by ducktape at the mo :164:

(slight overbalance when negotiating the garage door opening meant temp leaning it on the garage wall :232:)

Compared to most other bikes + VFR750 & VFR800 + the Blackbird - You can see the WORLD with CT mirrors.!!!!!!!!!!

Never seen any other complaints bout the mirrors  ??????
Specs Needed ????
Keep it on the Black Stuff or Dirt - BUT - Rubber Side Down.  Else it hurts!

I alternate between an ST1300 and the CT and can’t say the rear view on the Crosstourer has ever been an issue. I just love the bike. :001:
