Hi benridesvfr1200x
The steering head bearings being loose was a common problem on delivery once tightened I have not had any issue and not seen any more posts, the stain I have not looked.
Kind regards ... Jacob  :018:

I hadwhat appeared to be a rattle from the brakes when I first took my CT for a test ride.  Thanks to the info on the issue on this forum I asked the dealer to tighten the head bearings and have not had any issue since.

Having bought a few new dirt bikes over the years (2 sons raced MX for 7 years) we found it best before riding them to take them apart and re-grease the steering head and swingarm/rear suspension bearings as they come almost dry from the factory. I would have expected them to apply more on items that don't get regularly stripped and rebuilt like road bikes but you never know?

I've never had this problem on a road bike myself but the 'cure' was to drilla hole in the headstock, fit a greas nipple and pump some in every few weeks wiping off the expelled excess that oozes out with a tissue :305:

Is this a general thing to come loose should it be covered on the first service or on a recall   :159:

My dealer always re-greases the steering head bearings as they feel Honda should be doing that better. I have no problems with that, it`s about taking proper precautions...

Yes but don't just relate this to Hondas, all the jap bikes are the same (dunno about euro ones)

I guess you`re right. My experience with Japanese bikes is just limited to my old yamaha  XT500, TT600, XT350, suzuki DRZ400 en DR650. All were bought quite used  :015: We still own the Suzukis, low mainenance, high fun factor, used them in the Eastern Europe Rally...
