Hello from me.
« on: September 29, 2012, 07:12:39 PM »
Well, hello to everyone. The drinks are on me, they're virtual drinks so have as many as you like.

Not got the CT yet but it will defo be my next bike early next year. Had a test ride yesterday and loved it. Power, tank size, knees not scrunched up, no clutch cables, no chains, dont need glasses to see speedo and it tells you what gear your in (how about that), not to mention ABS and Traction control, fantastic. Couple of small points cropped up and wondered if anyone feels the same way.

The seat. The padding seems OK, but the shape seems to want me to slide me forward so giving myself a wedgy, I'm still waiting for one testical to drop down again. Please let me have your thoughts and corrections for this. Either the seat or medical treatment.

The seat height. It was taller than I expected. I can still ride it obviously, but has anyone lowered one yet to make it that bit less of a stretch?

Look forward to getting involved.

You won't go wrong with the CT as your next bike. The seat is one of the best I have came across as standard, granted it won't be to everyone liking but I find it easily comfortable for 200 miles at a time.

Can't say I've noticed anything about sliding forward on the seat, coming from a 1200GS that is a seat for wedgies!

welcome glassback75!

maybe if you are a little vertically challenged the seat becomes an issue because your whole body would be tilted forward?? the bars can be rolled back towards you a bit too

at 6' I find the bike just the right height and no probs with the seat, I'm sure someone will bring out a lower seat though

the bike looks like it can be lowered at the front via the triple clamps and a different spring on the rear would sort that out for you and imo it's got more suspension travel than most will need

I will be asking about lowering the front in a couple of weeks when I see some local suspension gurus so while I am at it I will ask about lowering the whole bike for you

I too found the seat a bit 'tall' but i didn't want to alter the ergo's by lowering the seat height

I will be doing some 'research' today and may have to replace the mfw ones with the STD links until the modified ones arrive from the engineering firm

Thanks for your comments.

I'm planning on a Spring acquisition, so I hope to be fully briefed from the forum on the CT by then.
