went bush today - I need a hugg ... er
« on: September 16, 2012, 07:39:11 AM »
Hi crew, just thought I’d share a couple of pics from today!

We went gold panning at a creek up in the hills so I took the bike, did about 90kms of gravel roads with the od bit of mud and some small gravelly water crossings. It was a bit scary going through the big pot holes full of water because I couldn’t tell what the surface condition was like underneath, the bike moved around a bit but really it was all OK. For someone like me with minimal dirt experience it was a successful outing. The traction control on the gravel coming out of corners is great, just that tiny bit of spin and then it grabs traction – I love it!

sorry the pics went sideways and I adjusted them in photobucket but the image links have routed to the original pics

But I need to get some offroad bits for the bike, hugger, bars, radiator screen, sump guard and the fender extender – at least I think it might be a good idea if the bike keeps taking me bush

has anyone bought one of these – they come unpainted or painted and look pretty good

cheers all

If most of your route was like in the pictures then you are a brave man tackling it with those tyres  :020:

haha - Mika that was the worst of it but it was more than i was bargaining for, I was only expecting gravel roads! yes I will get some intermediate tyres (more knobby) next time, the bike can afford to lose some cornering prowess on the street and gain it on the gravel

@ jacob - thanks mate, nearly every ride so far has had some "excursion", btw i like your mods

Look at Skidmarx.

They have a hugger: http://www.skidmarx.co.uk/product.php?id_product=90028
and a fenda extenda: http://www.skidmarx.co.uk/product.php?id_product=90061

If you're going off-road the fenda extenda will very likely be a temporary fitment!

Pyramid-Plastics.co.uk, do Hugger and Fenda Extenda for the Xtourer  :152: .  They are cheaper than Skidmarx  :002: , and it looks on the Skidmark site, that the items they are selling are made by Pryramid Plastics anyway    :084: !!!!!
Your decision !!

Keep it on the Black Stuff or Dirt - BUT - Rubber Side Down.  Else it hurts!

I managed to get a genuine Honda hugger for a VFR1200F off eBay and fitted it yesterday. There is quite a bit of clearance between the hugger and the tyre so it might suit some that are putting knobblies on better than some of the other huggers out there.

Only a thought. :028:
