It has been a fantastic day here on the Isle of Man, dry and sunny, so perfect riding weather, which meant that I spent less time at the Vintage Motorcycle Club day and more riding the Crosstourer - and most people seem to have done the opposite so the roads were surprisingly quiet. Nevertheless, I have seen dozens of Explorers, hundreds of GSs, but not even one other Crosstourer. I know the Triumph is selling well, but given how many visitors there are on the island this week for the Manx Grand Prix, I did expect a few Crosstourers.
One of the advantages of quiet roads is that I have had several nice runs over the mountain section of the TT course. This bike has so much torque, it is an absolute pleasure to ride fast on that road, and with 3rd gear quite capable of well over 100mph, it really does only need 3rd and 4th gears. It isn't a Fireblade or GSXR, but it is still blisteringly quick!
