First to say it's very unlikely that you will have to top up any oil between services  :028: ... mine was just fine even until big service at 12'000km.

However, you may ask your dealer what they fill up.

Sure you must check oil level in a regular way although it's not likely that CT will use much oil between services. However, with heavy use if the engine heats up exceptionally as for example on a racetrack you'd sure have to check more often too.

I am going on a 5 .... -  6000km trip next week, i dont take any "spare" oil with me - however - if i'd have to top up i would look for a high grad motorcycle specific oil, probably fully synthetic yes. In an odd situation if nothing else available i wouldn't care too much on what oil to top it up ....

Hi Grahew,
its not necessary to fill with full synth, really you need to avoid mixing full with semi. The oil spec in the CT is rather old hat and if you want a direction i suggest Silkolene COMP4 10-30 SEMI SYNTH, IT MEETS ALL THE REQUIRMENTS, (ie) Jaso MA, sae SG or higher,it seems to be available in most bike shops and all the on line shops (like M+P OR demon tweeks) stock it. its an oil grade used in most Hondas built in the last few years. As i say Dont mix full with semi!. hope this helps

Hi Chrippen, dont quite understand your problem, are you saying the CT is using oil or it is leaking, some new engines use oil and it will stop using after a few thousand klms, nothing to worry about, just important to keep checked. do you know what type/grade of oil he used?
