I heard that we can take out of the CT engine 174HP

just like VFR1200F  By replacing the engine computer to power comander or similar .....did anyone heard that too?

Any details?

If the CT & his 174HP brother share the exact engine & gear...maybe the only difference is the ignition map in the computer?

Think you'll find there's a fair few more changes to the engine than just a bit of mapping. Valves, headers, cams etc etc.

Anyway why would you want too. Gaining the extra HP at the expense of loosing the tourque would ruin the whole bike IMHO

Exactly agree there Harry. Torque is what we want on CT and it has heaps of it  :062:

Torque is what matters with this bike and it is well delivered in the current setup

I'm with Harry H on this, chaps; the V4 block has been engineered to give 127bhp and low-end torque at the expense of 150bhp+ and a higher top-end speed.

Agree that the beauty of the CT is its low-end grunt...personally, that's what attracted me to the bike and the power delivery & acceleration it has...think of the ease in overtakes we're all going to enjoy!!!

I know this bike can handle comfortably at 125mph...why would we want to go any faster??   :152:

I'm happy to be challenged on this issue...may the debate begin!

It goes like the bloody clappers!
Not sure what 150 bhp would actually achieve. :435:

:0461: I have to keep checking my speed anyway - after a Bavarian twin, it is so smooth and fast I am often going much quicker than I expect to be!

.....and exhaust header diameter and intake stack lengths etc etc etc...

Let me assue you, being the previous owner of a VFR1200F, you DO NOT WANT that kind of horsepower off road, traction control or not, it would be sheer stupidity.   :112:
