Vibrations during breaking
« on: June 25, 2012, 09:57:36 AM »
Hi guys - I am facing problem with my CT. I feel vibrations during breaking between 70-40 km/h. They are most significant in this range, below and above it is not so strong. My Honda dealer does not know what to do with this problem. They told me that break discs are OK. Does anyone of you had similar problem?

There's only four things I can think of checking.

1. Warped discs
2. Loose headrace
3. Tyre pressures
4. Doggy pads

I think you first need to be a bit firmer with your dealer. Get him to confirm he agrees there is a problem and once he does that insist he sorts it. That is his job after all. :157:

Thanks for replies.

Mechanic of the dealer confirmed me that there is a problem. Firstly another mechanic from another Honda dealer said it is OK according to his point of view. I did not agree and went to my original dealer where very experienced mechanic (who is also attending superbike races) confirmed that the bike is vibrating during breaking.

It is absolutely stable during ride, problem occurs just during breaking. I am going to visit the dealer ones again and make official reclamation and will insist on finding solution. He told be to wait for his call but that is what I ma not willing to do - bike has just 6500km and problem started at around 2000km.

Get a new pair of tyres and a wheel balance, also get the dealer to check the headrace bearings.

Could also be deposits from the pads on the disk/s, feels like a warped disk but when the disk is checked it is within tolerances.

Honda dealer just called me that they will replace both break disks and pads under warranty. They tested another CTs and some of them also had some gentle vibrations during breaking (so they think it might be feature, not failure) but mine are significantly stronger so I hope that this replacement will solve it. I currently do have around 6.500km and vibrations started at 2.500km. I will update info ones the repair is done.
