Silver with luggage touring North west Scotland
« on: June 04, 2012, 09:45:55 PM »
I thought I was pretty cool at the weekend, tearing around the Highlands with a pretty exclusive bike until I met a silver CT coming towards me around the Achnasheen area.
Good to see CT's getting around though!
I was the white one with black topbox heading for Inverness.

Hi Jim, I was across there last weekend myself
we had our own mini adventure bike test  :062: !! a tiger,gs,multistrada and my red Dct
we met another red CT somewhere between Durness and Tongue on sat
did 950 miles Fri to Sun, my bike was awesome but it is by far the worst of the above mentioned on fuel
average £7 more juice every fill than the gs and tiger and £5 more than the multi (all on 95)  :230:
but still had a big grin at the end of the weekend even though the wallet took a hit  :821:
I'm away to order a radiator guard and a touch up kit  :114:  :028:

I'm surprised the Tiger didn't use more fuel, my 800 was down in the forties if playing around! Certainly big grin factor with the CT!
Agree with the rad guard, I've been looking at mesh in Ebay to see if I can make one up!

Hi Jim,
Newbie here, I pick up my CT in 2 weeks. Like you, 'great minds' and all that... I have been looking at mesh on eBay as well!. Looked all over recently (B&Q etc) and not found anything that I think would be suitable. I would be interested if you manage to knock one up yourself. Hope you don't mind me asking.

i thought this was me until i looked at the date of the post :087:

I took mine up last saturday, got back this saturday covered 2150 miles of which about 1800 were WET with a capital ferkin W

Still managed about 300 miles a day though with the added bonus of keeping the midges quiet, the Guinness and Craic was brilliant as always

In fact i think we passed Jim going the other way south of Loch Ness when the sun shone on tues/wed as the lads saw a white CT but i was riding a mates street triple at the time so was trying to keep my fillings in my teeth and didn't notice him

When i get some pictures sorted I'll do a ride report

PS. i don't like the touring screen but i'll post on the screen thread about it later

Ian

Hey - maybe thats cos you were leaving them for dead exiting every corner  :008:

Sounds like a good trip. Did you get a chance to ride the other bikes? Maybe catch up at Belfast Honda sometime.
