Why did you buy a CT?
« on: May 15, 2012, 12:55:08 PM »
What made you choose a CT over some other 'Adventure' bike?

My reasons

Loved my Blackbird so much it made me a fan of Honda
The engine is a gem
Looks sleek and not agricultural like some

Last but not least

Family ties to local jap only dealer meant I would have been shot

I use to ride a Honda Mt 50 when I was a young kid.
Later I had a Honda Vt 600 and later a Varadero XL 1000 v until recently.
I have had an accident at work where I lost 3 fingertips an I couldn't pull the clutch of my Varadero.   :232:
When we went to see my Honda dealer he told me about the Crosstourer DCT and I was sold.
So I traded my Varadero in for the Crosstourer.
Next week I can pick her up at my dealer :046:

I love the V4 engine but find the ST1300 too heavy, and the new VFR1200T (if it ever appears) won't be much lighter.

The VFR1200F is going back to my VFR800 days, and I rode that too fast - and it was uncomfortable when riding slowly with my wife (on her 600 Hornet at the time).

The Crosstourer is lighter than the ST, fast like the VFR800 and comfortable when ridden slowly - it's good at everything.
I will ride it slowly, and I will ride it too fast, but the smile on my face - you should see it.  :169:

14 years V4...
VFR800i - 1998-2004
ST1300 - 2004-2012
VFR1200XD - 2012...

My mate from work, who I ride with often, has noticed a big difference in the way I ride the Crosstourer compared to the ST. I've told him that losing 40 kilos makes a big difference.

Now he has problems staying with me in the bends (CB1000R) - wow, I can now get round those corners pretty quick and I leave them behind much quicker too - just like my mate!  :305:

Bring on those Alps!
