Custom Moulded Ear Plugs
« on: April 30, 2012, 10:37:55 PM »
Does any member use Custom Moulded Ear Plugs and if so would you recommend them. I'm a bit silly as sometimes I don't wear my ear plugs. I find them very annoying. The ear plugs I use are the standard foam type. I'm always losing them. I also find that my left ear holds an ear plug better than my right ear. People tell me to wet the ear plugs before fitting them as it helps to ease then into position, I don't like the idea of wet ear plugs in my ears.
Custom Moulded Ear Plugs are expensive so before I buy some I'd like to make sure I'm not wasting my money.  :084:

Hi Strider - YES - I use custom molded ear plugs and I would not be without them they are extremely comfortable as they are moulded to fit each ear and they reduce a huge amount of noise I strongly recommend getting some - most of my mates also use them.

What I do is lick my finger run it around the ear canal then it makes it very easy to slip the ear plug in and it is not wet but you can insert them dry as well.

Well worth the investment ... Jacob

I had mine made by Ultimate Ear (they were at Vines one day) several years ago and they are still going strong. I hate off the shelf ear plugs, but the bespoke ones are really comfortable and much quieter. I also found them excellent when shooting shotguns with, better than wearing ear-muffs, although I don't recommend riding and shooting at the same time!

I've found a high quality, specialist ear plug manufacturer and I've made an appointment to get my ear impressions done. They look good and apparently lower my bike noises to 24 decibel's, sounds good. !

Also they scan my ear impressions digitally and keep them on their system for ten years so I can order replacements if I loose them.

Great bit of kit - great link!

I have been using the standard yellow foam plugs for years - these may be a great alternative - dispite the high price.

I'll let you know what they're like when I get them. Hopefully they are as good as they say.  :002:
